Understanding the Context

You can get a nice boar brush for under $20. You couldn't pay me to use a badger anywhere near that price. If you purchased a pair of brown shoes and they pinched your feet you wouldn't assume all brown shoes were a bad choice for you. The lather with the badger brush is significantly denser, more hydrated, softer, fuller, and just plain works better at delivering a closer, more comfortable shave.

I used proraso soap for this first test, to show as an example to one of our newer members surf. This is the lather I got with the boar brush and proraso.... Cover and put away or let dry for some time, then cover and put away. Am I overthinking all of this??? Different grades of badger hair are also thought to perform better for soaps, while others perform better with creams. As with most aspects of wet shaving, a lot depends on personal preferences.
