dog whining after anesthesia - Pets Zone
Normally I say, when in doubt, call your vet. But it sounds like you already did. My vet said not to worry if my dog didn't eat for 24 hours after anesthesia (he had a mass removed from his ear, along with a small part of his ear).
Understanding the Context
He was pretty disoriented when I picked him up and only drank water and had a tiny snack that night. He ate breakfast the next day. I noticed that tramadol seemed ... She looks at me and cries.

I read some other threads about this kind of behavior after anesthesia/dental work and am hoping she pulls out of this soon as the other dogs did. She is still guarding the house and barking at any strange sounds, but is once again laying on the couch asleep, with occasional whimpering. Unfortunately, he has much difficulty with anesthesia and had a bad reaction last year and again this year. Last year he was out of it for days, and same this year - we are on Day 2 of whining, not wanting to eat, lethargic. He did vomit several times yesterday (day of surgery) after returning home, but so far, not today.

When I picked her up, the staff told me she was crying but that is was the anesthesia and it would wear off. 7 hours later, she is still whimpering and crying and super reactive to sound, motion, any stimulation. She will not stop. This is a dog that never cries. She is not vocal and she is not wimpy. Anyone ever have this reaction after a dental?
My dog is listless, whimpering, and depressed a day after dental ... A whining animal is most likely in some form of distress so why the desire to strangle it instead of help it? I think based on the article on misophonia that Crantastic posted, the people here who want to hurt their dogs are suppressing 'fight' rather than 'flight' reactions. My dog doesn't whine when she's chewing a treat (she prefers bully sticks), but she does when she's attempting to find a hiding spot for the treat (to save for later).
