I plug in the usb and it prompts me to choose my device, but will not let me choose which one it actually is.

The mic only works sometimes and the headphones not at all. I have windows 8. display driver has stopped working and has recovered I keep getting a message saying that my display driver has stopped working and has recovered. when this occurs my screen will flash on and off, some times my screen will become pixlated also my screen has blacked out completely freezing the computer. any ideas?

Earbud mic shows connectivity but not working I am using the mic from Apple Earbuds and one day I pulled the earbuds out from my laptop and the mic stopped working.
I have multiple pairs and none of them work. The mic connects but just does not pick up any sound. I have tried trouble shooting and also updating drivers but none of that worked. My taskbar and start menu are all working fine, as well as the "SearchUI.exe".
