After that you wiggle the button as you are releasing it so the contact wiggles before it goes up and that movement makes the contact touches the circuit again so that's another button press and then the contact goes up. Thus the button is pressed again while it's going up.

Try what I suggested- wiggle wire, swap mouse and try with another. If there's a dodgy connection, it may not take obvious mouse movement to trigger that. I use Tbird- there should be no need to do anything special with sounds - except for you alone as a workaround should you so choose.
